The Chamber works as an employers organization, as well. Together with the corresponding federations of the trade unions CITUB and CLP the Chamber negotiate and sign on Branch Collective Labour Agreement. (Note: CITUB = Confederation of the Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria; CLP = Confederation of Labour "Podkrepa") This Agreement determines: the labour relations, the social insurance, the vocational training, the health and safe conditions of work, the lowest thresholds of social insurance for the different categories of personnel.
The Branch Chamber is governed by a General Assembly and a Board of Managers. The General Assembly consists of all the member-companies managers and it elects the Board of Managers composed of 13 persons. One of these thirteen persons is the Chairman who is on the pay-roll. The Chairman does the practical guidance. The other twelve members are managers of companies, representing different sectors of the machine building.
In order to realize a better coordination in consideration and solution of specific problems concerning firms in one and the same sector, several unions (attached to the Branch Chamber) were established, namely: Foundry Practice Union, Truck Making Industry Union and Refrigerating and Conditioning Machinery Union. By other sector companies wish, new unions could be founded.
The activities of the Chamber are versatile and aimed mainly at supporting the development of the companies and raising the level of their competitiveness.
By tradition, the Chamber renders assistance in establishing and enlarging of business connections between Bulgarian and foreign firms and organizations, based on mutual interest.
The Chamber keeps in touch with a number of analogous organizations abroad.
